On Tuesday morning, two Bitcoin wallets, silent since 2014, sprang to life, transferring 3,422 BTC—valued at approximately $324.2 million. Back when these wallets last stirred, Bitcoin was trading below $1,000, making these some of the biggest moves by long-dormant whales in years.
Per Spot On Chain, the wallet “1NWPS” woke after 10.5 years, shifting 2,343 BTC ($222.2 million), while “1PiEK” emerged after 11.75 years, moving 1,079 BTC ($102.5 million). The owners’ identities and motives remain a mystery, and it’s unclear if the wallets are linked.
